Inspired by the now movement
What running in my head and what I’m currently working on now. Feel free to ping me if you are also spending time on them!
Rapid product iteration and engineering
How much time does it take to go from idea to deploy?
Why does it take the time it takes, and how can we make it better? I’ve been mulling over it for quite a while. I think we have over engineered a lot of things in the tech industry and have a lot of work to do in terms of going back to the basics.
I’ve been learning Django and building Closeknit as an experiment in this direction.
Side projects: CleanMail
This is one of my gripes with reality. Cleaning up a loaded inbox is surprisingly hard. And there are a lot of tools which are paid and pretty expensive (exhibit one , two). There should be a better way.
I developed CleanMail so that people can spend 15 minutes every 6 months and keep their inbox clean. People seem to like it!
Self hosting
The fact that we as a community have normalized and surrendered to big corps having all our memories and data is jarring in a way.
I’m exploring if data and compute sovereignty can be achieved while being commercially and resilience viable.
Hosting a server at home now and learning about self hosting.
Establishing a presence on social media
There is a quote I’ve heard somewhere which states something along the lines of , if you believe that something might be useful to a lot of people and you are not selling it. you are doing yourself and others an injustice.
Although I’ve been working on and developing solutions from myself over the past five years, I’ve never marketed my solutions well. So I’ve built useful tools in the past and mentioned in passing to my friends. When mentioned , they seem to be interested and use it. But I’ve not made a lot of efforts to make it accessible and share & market it. I’ve started to realize the importance of sincere marketing.
So going forward, I’ll dedicate time in marketing my work & make sure that it reaches people who find use in it. Starting by posting on X, blue sky & mastodon.
